How many doors a day is realistic
How many doors you can work in a day is set mostly by the area rather than by effort. A dense subdivision where houses share a street puts far more addresses within walking distance than a rural route where you drive between them. Published daily targets travel badly for that reason. Track your own number for a week before you adopt anyone else's.
Density sets the ceiling before you do
Two reps working equally hard in different neighbourhoods will produce very different door counts, and neither number says anything about either rep. Walking distance between front doors is the dominant variable and it is decided when the area is assigned.
This is why a daily target imported from another company, another trade, or a recruiting pitch is not a target so much as a source of misplaced guilt.
The time between doors is most of the day
Reps tend to think of a working day as a sequence of conversations. It is mostly the walking and the deciding in between them. Half a minute spent working out which house to try next, repeated across a full day, is most of an hour.
That time is invisible because it never feels like anything. It does not show up in a knock count and it is the largest single thing standing between a rep and a higher one.
Why we will not print a number here
Every competing page on this query gives you a figure, and we do not have a defensible source for one. Doors per day varies by trade, area, season and how the day is structured, and a plausible-sounding average would be invented.
The number that helps you is your own, measured across a normal week in the area you actually work. That is also the only one you can move.
Common questions
- What is a good number of doors per day?
- The honest answer is that it depends on your area more than on you, and we would rather not invent an average. Measure your own across a normal week and compare against yourself.
- Should I aim for more doors or better conversations?
- Look at which number is unusually low first. A poor contact rate is an area or timing problem, and knocking more doors badly will not fix it.
- Does a route planner increase my door count?
- It removes the deciding time between doors, which is where a lot of the day goes. That raises the ceiling; it does not change how dense your area is.
