Tracking your own commission
Keep your own record of every sale, its date and what you expect to be paid on it, then reconcile against the company statement each period. Payroll errors happen, chargebacks are sometimes applied incorrectly, and a rep with no independent record cannot tell the difference between an error and a rule they misunderstood.
Why the company record is not enough
Not because companies are dishonest, but because you cannot check a number against itself. Errors in either direction are invisible without a second record, and the reconciliation is what turns a vague sense of being underpaid into a specific question.
What to log
The address, the date, the product, and what you expect to be paid. That is enough to reconcile and it is information you already have at the moment of sale.
Reconcile every period
Discrepancies get harder to resolve with age, and both sides' memory degrades. Doing it each pay period keeps the conversation about a specific sale rather than about a general feeling.
Common questions
- Should I track commission separately from the company?
- Yes. You cannot check a figure against itself, and errors go in both directions.
- What do I do if the numbers do not match?
- Raise it with the specific sale, date and expected amount. A specific discrepancy gets resolved; a general complaint does not.
- Does KnockMode track commission?
- No. It records doors, dispositions and your performance numbers. There is no commission or payroll feature.
